The content modules of the PRINCE2® Foundation Online course

Introduction to PRINCE2®

Duration: ~70 minutes

The first module will familiarise you with the structure of the course. We will explain the basic structure of PRINCE2 and introduce you to the practical example that we will return to throughout the course. After completing this module, you will know how to start a project.

Organization and business case

Duration: ~50 minutes

The second module will show you how to tackle the most significant problems associated with project implementation with the "organisation" and "business case" themes. Once you have completed the module, you will know the basis for goal-oriented communication as well as the benefits and objectives that provide the defining framework for the planning.

Initiating a project, plans and progress

Duration: ~60 minutes

In the third module you'll learn how to translate the specifications of the business case into plans and how to monitor these plans. To show you how, we'll start at the very beginning of a project with the "initiating a project" process.

Directing a project, managing a stage boundary, risk

Duration: ~50 minutes

In the fourth module, we'll look at the sole process at the top decision-making level. You will learn how and on what basis the project board makes its decisions. These decisions are based on input from the project manager ("managing a stage boundary" process, "risk" theme).

Quality, controlling a stage, managing product delivery

Duration: ~60 minutes

In this module we'll tackle the "quality" theme and define the quality criteria. You'll also learn about the day-to-day work of the project manager and the team manager in the processes "controlling a stage" and "managing product delivery".

Changes, closing a project

Duration: ~50 minutes

The first part of this module focuses on change within projects and how a systematic approach helps us to identify, assess and manage issues. The second part focuses on the "closing a project" process at the end of a project and marks the end of the content section of our web-based training course.

Preparing, exam and certification

Duration: ~70 minutes

The seventh module will prepare you for the PRINCE2 Foundation certification with an online exam simulation. You will receive general information about the examination and certification process. Sample exam papers with solutions are available for download.

Exam and certification

Upon completion of the PRINCE2® Foundation Training Online, you will fulfill the necessary requirements to take the online certification at PeopleCert®.

The exam must be taken within 12 months of receiving the exam voucher. We take care of the application for the voucher for you against an examination fee of 250€, which we charge in full to PeopleCert® - the certification institute. The exam application is required by the accreditation partner AXELOS and the certification institute PeopleCert® when registering for a course.

The exam takes place online (24/7). Certified examiners accompany your exam via webcam. The answering of the 60 multiple-choice questions takes place on a web interface. You have 60 minutes to answer the questions (75 minutes if English is not your native language). You need 33 (55%) correct answers to pass the exam. The exam is also available in German.

Your official PeopleCert® certificate will be sent to you as an e-certificate within 48 hours after reviewing your test results and passing. Participation in the exam is now mandatory through AXELOS - the official accreditor of PRINCE2®. We charge the specified examination fees accordingly for PeopleCert®.

Learning PRINCE2® in a varied way

Our online training courses are developed according to didactic findings with the assistance of media pedagogues and experienced trainers.

We pay attention to an interactive structure of our trainings in order to guarantee a sustainable learning success. The participants are not simply consumers, but are always actively involved in the training through various control elements and intermediate questions.

In order to convey the learning content in a playful way and to demonstrate its application in practice, we use various methods in the modules, such as:

  • Texts and explanatory videos in combination with exercises: The content included in this training is based on the original AXELOS literature. With different media (audio; video), interactive controls and playful exercises, we guide you through all exam-relevant contents analogous to the AXELOS framework curriculum.
  • The PRINCE2® story: The PRINCE2® story about the Greek hotel chain Mamadopoulos, which wants to change its previous concept and expand its services due to the financial crisis, illustrates the content with a practical example.
  • Learning objective test: Each module ends with a quiz with which you can test whether you can apply the terms you have learned and have internalized the theoretical content.
  • Download materials: Because all content is relevant for your practice in addition to preparing for the exam, we offer you, for example, the process model, as well as the compilations of the management products for download.
