Via Web-Based Training (WBT) – The ITIL® 5 Online Certification

With our ITIL® 5 Foundation online training course, you’ll lay the groundwork for becoming an ITIL® expert using a browser-based application.

No matter how much prior knowledge you have of IT management, our training covers all content required by PeopleCert® (the official ITIL® accreditor) in 8 sequential modules. After redeeming the voucher code—for example, during initial registration—you have 60 days to complete the training.

This ensures that you are fully prepared for the official PeopleCert® certification exam, which you can then take online via the PeopleCert® candidate portal using our exam voucher.

Exam and ITIL® 5 Foundation Certification

On completion of the training course, you will fulfill the necessary requirements to take the PeopleCert® certification exam.

Exam procedure

You take the certification exam online proctored on the PeopleCert® platform at a time of your choice (24/7/365). We will take care of the application for the exam for you in return for an examination fee, which we charge for the PeopleCert® certification institute. Peoplecert® - the official accreditor of ITIL® - now binds the acquisition of the exam to the seminar.

You will receive an exam voucher that is valid for 12 months from the date of order. We strongly recommend that you take the exam as soon as possible after the seminar. Certified examiners will accompany your exam via webcam. The questions are answered on a web interface. You have 60 minutes to answer the 40 questions (75 minutes if English is not your native language). You need 26 (55%) correct answers to pass the exam. This is not an open-book exam, so you are not allowed to refer to textbooks. You will receive the provisional result immediately after the exam.

You can find more information on the technical requirements for taking the exam on the PeopleCert® website. At the bottom of the page you can download instructions in any language. We recommend that you test the environment (Web Based Online Proctored Exams) in advance.

How to get your certificate

After successfully passing the exam, you will receive your personal international ITIL® 4 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management as an e-certificate in your PeopleCert® account just 48 hours after completion. This entitles you to participate in the advanced ITIL® 4 Managing Professional courses, which will take you further along the path to the title of ITIL® Managing Professional Leader / ITIL® Master.

Validity of the certificate

The new Continuing Professional Development Program from PeopleCert® is designed to help you stay successful in the competitive job market. To keep your expertise up to date, all Global Best Practice certifications must be recertified within 3 years of the original award date.

The Mock Exam online

Take advantage of the official PeopleCert mock exams with the Mock Exam! These are complete, timed, and graded exams that give candidates a feel for the real exam and help them familiarize themselves with the exam interface.

This allows you to practice and, if necessary, combat exam anxiety by simulating the exam situation and better preparing yourself for the content and setting. The actual exam will be much easier to handle, especially since you will get an overview of your success rate in the respective subject areas.

Important: Your official mock exam is valid for 12 months. Once you have started the mock exam, you have 24 hours to complete it. You can add the mock exam as an optional product at checkout.

In order to convey the learning content in a playful way and to demonstrate its application in practice, we use various methods in the modules, such as:

  • The ITIL® Story (practical example): employees of a fictitious company describe to you how they improve their services and explain how they apply ITIL® Best Practice in the process.
  • The ITIL® Managing Professional (explanatory video): The ITIL Managing Professional accompanies you during your training and supports your learning process with in-depth information and her expert knowledge.
  • Learning Objectives Summary: A short text summary sums up the most important learning objectives of the respective module.
  • Quizzes: With the quizzes at the end of each module, you can check your current level of knowledge.

FAQs for Our Online Training Courses

You can book the online training at any time through our website. You will receive your login credentials for the iTSM Academy immediately afterward. After redeeming the voucher code—for example, during initial registration—the training will be available to you for 60 days (24/7).

The training is divided into modules in accordance with the licensor’s syllabus. You will work through the modules independently at your own pace.  
Please note that the next module will not be unlocked until you have completed the previous one.  

It will take about 7 hours to complete the entire training course without any breaks.  
 

You will receive your exam voucher, including the e-book, no later than the next business day after the training begins. It will be available immediately in your PeopleCert® account. You can schedule your exam at a later date.

Please contact us if the 60-day training period is not sufficient.

You can choose any exam date on the PeopleCert® platform. We have no control over these dates. As a rule, several time slots are available 24/7.

We recommend that you take the exam shortly after completing the training. By default, you have 12 months to take your exam.

However, you can extend your PeopleCert® certification access voucher for an additional 6 months for a fee.

No—as a training provider, we have no influence over the scheduling of exam dates and no access to information about available exam slots.

Certificates are provided electronically by PeopleCert® and are included in the exam fee. If you would like a hard copy of the certificate, you can order it directly on the PeopleCert® platform for a fee.

You can also select the proctor’s language. However, a German-speaking proctor is not always available. Most proctors speak English.

Please do not confuse this selection with the exam language selection. These are two separate options: one is the proctor’s language, and the other is the language of the exam questions. 

PeopleCert® has partnered with Vitalsource, a leading global provider of e-publishing solutions.  

No additional software is required for online reading. Offline reading requires the installation of a desktop or mobile reading app. Both options will always be available to you. 

You may print up to 10% of the digital book only once.

Yes—most of the exams and books have already been translated, and the rest will follow, which means that PeopleCert® will continue to add new languages.

Yes—you can also purchase the printed book for an additional fee.

No – PeopleCert® links the e-book to the exam voucher. This bundle is mandatory since February 1, 2022.

Exam insurance entitles you to take the exam once more. If you do not achieve the required minimum score on your first attempt, you do not need to purchase a new voucher. Exam insurance costs €60.

No—exam insurance cannot be canceled after the fact.

Yes – once you receive your voucher, you can do this through the iTSM Group for up to 14 days at a cost of €60. After that, exam insurance can only be purchased through PeopleCert® for a fee. You can view the costs in your account.

No—if you retake an exam, you do not need to purchase the e-book again, provided it is already linked to your account.
